Eid al-Adha Is Here — Here’s What the Muslim Girlies Are Wearing

Eid al-Adha is here! Whether you’re wearing an abaya, salwar kameez, or a modern modest twist with a mesh long-sleeve maxi dress, the options are endless. From our humble beginnings donning our mother’s taste of floral print to tripping over pants that couldn’t get altered in time because our tailor was a phone call to a relative 7,000 miles away. Don’t forget the prepaid international calling card! Ten years later, major online retailers advertise and offer Eid outfits, giving the girlies space to break boundaries and maybe disappoint an auntie or two!

There once was a time when the only options for Eid outfits were just salwar kameez and maybe a pair of leggings and a salwar kameez top. The variety was lacking, leaving us girlies to wear heavyweight bejeweled lenghas, itchy synthetic chiffon layering, and thin oversized cotton tops. Fast forward to 2026, Muslim girlies dove headfirst and began to explore the world of modest fashion and quiet luxury.

From Sofia Richie to the Olsen twins, the trend of quiet luxury has grown in the past few years, opening up the fashion market with modest options for Muslims. The term is coined from dressing conservatively and confidently walking out without a logo representing your wealth status. The Muslim community has taken full grasp of the trend and has turned religious celebrations into a runway for expression and style.

Silence your WhatsApp notifications and toss out the synthetic chiffon and pick up a mesh long-sleeve maxi dress from ASOS. Five years ago, I never would have imagined typing out that a major fast fashion retailer is advertising the words “Eid Outfits” on their website, but here I am. The brand gives the girls something more modern to strut in, presenting a sleek, floral-printed maxi dress with a draped neckline and a cinched waist. Clinched waists aren’t really your thing? Not to worry, ASOS even has satin abaya dupes in chocolate, khaki, and raspberry if you’re looking for a minimalistic look. (If you’re a Real Housewife or Bravo fan, you might have spotted Ubah Hassan modeling the Eid look in chocolate!)

Searching for cheaper options? Shein offers salwar kameez dupes and jumpsuits, presenting full-body coverage options for the Muslim community at a fraction of the price. The retailer has an array of prints and designs that the girlies can choose from, including floral printed loose-fitting kaftans and lace embroidered headscarves. Of course, you’re trading off quality for a low price and a cute design, but you can’t go wrong with a $20 Eid outfit in a tight economy. The girlies need to save money, too!

Don’t forget the accessories! It’s all about the accents that encapsulate your entire outfit. If you want to shine bright and shimmer like a diamond, add a metallic sequined headscarf to your online shopping cart. Want something more traditional for mom? Toss in a lace ruffled scarf to surprise her and make her feel special too.

Quiet luxury means not overpowering the entire outfit by a statement piece such as a gaudy Chanel or Louis Vuitton bag. You’d much rather be wearing gold or silver accented jewelry to complement the outfit rather than overtake it. Hailey Bieber debuted knotted earrings in 2023 and the internet has not forgotten them since. She styles most of her outfits with gold mini huggie hoop earrings and contrasting silver pinky rings that make her outfit speak for itself.

Our version of Bieber’s minimalistic jewelry style is churiyan; thin, colorful glass or gold rings we slide on our wrists to add to the fun of dressing up. We layer our arms with gold, pink, green, and red churiyan that jingle and create their own rhythm of music as we celebrate Eid.

The final step is to slip on your shoes and see if they fit right, like Cinderella. Many times we’re seen wearing chapal on an average day, but as this is the Muslim Met Gala, it calls for more upgraded options. A lot of the girlies are opting to wear pointed-toe chunky heels, bejeweled halter pumps, or ballet flats. For those who want to fuse street style and elegance, the New Balance 9060 provides a classy look, comfort, and a whole lot of chunk.

From silky abayas to sparkling headscarves, the girlies showed up and showed out this year in some of the trendiest and most elegant garments. Check them out below!
